Bandung is situated 143km away from Jakarta in Indonesia Java Island. Most people either take train or a car ride from Jakarta. Alternatively, Bandung has an international airport and most budget airlines in the Asean region flies there directly. It is recommended to stay more than 2 nights in Bandung simply there are many things to enjoy.
Day 1
We took Tiger Air and arrive Bandung City 1 hour 45 minutes later at 11am. In Indonesia, when it comes to booking of tours, it doesn’t matter if you are alone or in a group of 5 pax because you often have private driver who act as your tour guide. Thus, I would recommend to travel in larger group to split the costs.
Bandung is one of the best place in the whole of Indonesia to have inexpensive and authentic quality food. Our first lunch in Bandung City.
We checked into our SGD30 per night hotel and it was surely comfortable enough to be our home for the next 3 nights. Followed by shopping time! Shopping in Bandung is quite an affair and there are many markets within the city to fulfill your shopping desires. In Bandung, you will be spoil for choices when it comes to factory outlets. These factory outlets comes in various cartoon character to attract you. Rumah Mode, Dago Factory Outlets, Riau Factory Outlets is among them. Its time to fill up your wardrobe!
Day 2
The beauty of having a private driver to us is that we decide on our time to depart. Till the sun shine on our butts, we decided its time to explore the outskirt of Bandung.
We visited Tangkuban Perahu, an hour journey from Bandung , one is able to reach the top of mountain by car. It is one of the must see attractions in Bandung.
Tangkuban Perahu is known to the locals as the unfinished boat. History has it that a man once loved a woman who was actually his own mother unknowingly. One day, he knew it and was so angry that he kicked the unfinished boat. It flew and landed on a valley where this mountain is look like upturned boat.
There were tourist souvenirs shops along the way to as well. If you fancy riding a horse, your wish can be granted here too. Beside that, I would say the scenic view is absolutely fantastic.
Along the way back to Bandung, we stop by at one of the many strawberries farm. We decide to be a farmer for 30 minutes by indulging in plucking strawberries!
Hot Spring Park can also be found in the area as well with very cheap entrance to it. Somehow, it looks like a water theme park and its quite huge. The water can be really hot, be warned!
We ate rabbit satay for our lunch. Yes, that’s right, Rabbit meat. It tastes somehow like chicken meat. . . and back to Bandung for more shopping and massage!
Day 3
Today visit would be Kawah Putih or also commonly known as the white crater. Bandung being in a volcanic region, it offers many splendid natural attractions as the result of volcanic ashes. And this place gives one a rather special feeling, a sense of mysterious and with the low lying clouds around the mountain, it certainly makes a good photo shoot.
Next stop was to stop by at the Ciwidey tea plantation. Being situated in the mountainous region, temperature can be cooling, do bring a light jacket. The view was awesome with the many tea leaves and strawberries plantation.
Some last minute shopping before our short getaway ends and it’s back to planning for the next holiday destination! In summary, if you are looking for cooling weather with tea plantation views and volcanic mountains as its backdrop while feeding your shopping appetite, don’t mind visiting Bandung. You will not be disappointed.
