Getting tired of exploring the usual touristy places such as Malacca, Penang, Langkawi in Malaysia? Why not head to a town offering a rustic feeling, beautiful art decos and wall mural with a laid back environment found in peninsula Malaysia.
The answer to that lies no further than Bekok Town, located 160km from Singapore. Bekok town located in Johor, somwhere in between the two more popular town of Yong Peng and Segamat.
Getting to Bekok
If you are departing from Singapore, drive along the main North South highway in the direction of Kuala Lumpur. Turn out from the Yong Peng exit, drive along the old single expressway lane which will take approximately 30 minutes before passing the town call Chaah. Stay alert while looking out for the singaage indicating Bekok and turn right.
By the way, Bekok is also a popular gateway to the entrance of famous Taman Negara National Park in Malaysia. Bekok is one of the stops along the main train (KTM) route travelling from Singapore to Malaysia.
Some of the usual activities in Bekok includes a visit the Bekok Mini Hakka Museum to learn more about the Hakka culture and community. One can also get the chance to relish the therapeutic beautiful nature of Hutan Lipur Sungai Bantang and take a dip in the calming waters of Bekok Waterfall or Labis Hot Springs. Visit to the happy farm : bees, frogs and goat farms are also common sights to take in.
However, as I was on my way up to Kuala Lumpur, I had only allocated 2 hours for Bekok. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the old hertiage buildings and wall mural images that this town have.

There were so much to discover that I was so busy clicking away on my camera. However, I did not forget taking a moment to relax and chill out in this quiet town.
