Singapore’s nature parks are a fantastic way to escape the business of the city and go on a mini-vacation!
There are many nature parks all across our little island, and they vary in size. Some are small, and others are huge.
In this post, we tell you about 3 Exciting things to do in Chestnut Nature Park, a verdant oasis nestled in Bukit Panjang, the largest national park in Singapore.
Getting There
There are several ways to get to Chestnut Nature Park:
By Train
The nearest LRT station Pending.
From there, head towards the direction of Bangkit Road. One will see a tarmac track leading to Zhenghua Nature Park. Make a right turn to get to the underpass will eventually lead you to Chestnut Nature Park.
By Bus
Take bus 700 or 966. Alight at Block 202, Petir Road. Walk approximately 2km in along Petir Road/Chestnut Ave into Chestnut Nature Park.
By Car
The car park is located near the eastern end of Chestnut Avenue. If you are driving from Bukit Panjang, head along Petir Road and turn left at Chestnut Avenue. If you’re coming from the south (e.g. Dairy Farm), drive along Petir Road and turn right at Chestnut Avenue. After which, drive 1.5km along Chestnut Avenue and you will locate Chestnut Nature Park’s carpark on the left.
3 Things To Do At Chestnut Park
With a size of 81 hectares, Chestnut Park is larger than 110 soccer fields, making it Singapore’s largest nature park. It is the first in Singapore to have separate hiking trails and mountain biking trail, including a pump track and bike park for stunt bikers.
Bird watching
Endangered species such as the Straw-headed Bulbul and the Brown-chested Jungle Flycatcher, as well as species such as the Banded Woodpecker, Orange-bellied Flowerpecker and Little Spiderhunter can be spotted.
Hiking
Chestnut Nature Park (South) has a 2.1km hiking trail, while Chestnut Nature Park (North) has a 3.5km hiking trail. This brings the total length of hiking trails in the entire nature park to 5.6 km. Whether you want a scenic trek or an adrenaline rush, Chestnut Park has dedicated hiking and biking trails to offer.
Mountain Biking
The 8.2 km mountain biking trail at the fully completed Chestnut Nature Park comprises varying levels of difficulty ranging from easy to extremely difficult.
Whether you’re a photographer, nature lover or adrenaline junkie, there is something for everyone at Chestnut Park.
