Travel teaches us things that we cannot learn in the classroom setting. Grateful for this opportunity.
Lesson #1:Small milestone leads to greater success
When climbing Mount Kinabalu, the hike up to the night rest area was broken into 6 rest points. Every 1km=1 rest point. Whenever you are on the edge of giving up, remind yourself that you are 1 step closer to achieving small milestone. Eventually, you will get to the summit (can be your any of your ultimate goal in life). Set short term achievable target , set your heart to do it and you will one day.
Lesson #2: There are many route to success
When plotting the ways to attain the goal, remember there are many routes to success just like climbing the summit. There are many stones one can step which will lead you to the summit. You have to keep on stepping and choosing the different stones during the hike up. No matter which way you choose, you know you will be 1 step closer to attaining your goal.
Lesson #3: Never Give up!
Success only comes to people who are persistence and determine to make it a success. During the ascent, there were many times I wanted to give up due to leg cramp and tiredness suffered. However, at the back of my mind, there were this voice which tells me “Carry on!”. This is what I had set out to achieve and having come so far to Mount Kinabalu, I can’t just simply give up so easily. Eventually, with sheer determination, one conquered South East Asia highest mountain. You can do wonders if you don’t give up and believe in yourself.
Lesson #4: Choose the right mentor
During trekking, some tree trunks are very solid that it can be use as a support during the climb up. And while some other trees trunks looks good to hold, it actually weakens and result in getting you injured. The same principle goes in life. There are some people who will be genuinely willing to lend you a hand in your career while some might not. Choose the right mentor and be grateful to the person if you found it!
Below is the view from top of the mountain. . . Although one may reached at his/her career peak, always remember to be humble because you were once like them putting in effort to climb to the top!
With that, a toast to you first in finding your path to success!
