Situated in Western Europe with a land area occupying as the 7th largest country in Europe continent and a population of around 86 Million people, often you would feel overcrowded in this country. Read on to find out why you should not visit Germany if you are considering it as your next vacation…
Reason #1: Beer is “Expensive”
As you might already know, Germany is known for the Oktoberfest that usually takes place Munich, Bavaria, from mid or late September to the first weekend in October. Beers are everywhere and with a large varieties of local beer, one is often spoil for choices. There is no fix time on when one should grab a beer. Breakfast, lunch, dinner so long you are thirsty, grab a beer and cheers with your new found friends you made along the road trip! Beers prices are also comparable and even cheaper than soft drinks in most restaurants. The Germans believe having beer to recharge oneself and using the time to connect with each other. One of the better place to have a taste of German beer drinking is in Munich. Below shot taken after a typical work day in Munich Square:
Reason #2: All you see in Germany are Castles
Do you know the castle found in Disneyland theme park is inspired by the Neuschwanstein Castle? It is is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria area. Every small town that one drives through in Germany, there will be magical castles that glittered in the night bringing out the romantic feel in you and as thou one is living in a fairy tale fantasy.
Reason #3: The sights are “boring”
Each time you roll into a small town, there are not many things to see. One will discover the beautiful churches, unique housing styles that can only be found in the particular town especially in Dinkelsuehl. With small streams cutting through old small little towns filled with rich history, there is practically nothing much to do except taking a leisure stroll and taking a break in life to recharge.
Reason #4: Drives are “uninteresting” along the way
A typical scene one would encounter while doing a road trip in Germany. All one could see while driving are majestic castles surrounded by snow capped mountains with wild flowers blooming along the road. Cars are few on the road making the drive “boring”.
Reason #5: Driving in Germany is a nightmare
With the likes of BMW, Audi, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Opel, Porsche, Volkswagen calling Germany as its headquarters, the automobile industry in this country flourishes with visitor being able to visit the BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche Museum. There is not many things to do for instance in BMW Museum, as I only used 4 hours to have a quick glance of the museum filled up myself with more knowledge. Even if one is not a car lover, you will be fascinated with the cars on display. Did I also mention the rental of such powerful cars for self drive is cheaper in Germany?
Reason #6: Experience all kinds of weather within one day
Yes, you are right to say the temperature varies in Germany. The morning could be raining while one climbs higher, approaching snow capped mountains, rains changes into snow. Get to the top of Germany, Zugspitze and experience the coldness of what it can offer. If you are feeling too cold, just head down back to lower elevation and booming flowers greet you once again. Experience Summer, Spring and Winter all in one day in different locations, that is how Germany is.
With so much to offer, will you be considering visiting Germany? I was travelling on the Romantic Road in Germany for 8 days and it was just not enough. Check out video below:
