There are simply so many adventurous stuff to do in New Zealand. More often than not, it depends on your physical fitness and courage. Not everyone feel old when they hit 30s, but in general, your physical level or rather appetite for something adventurous decreases as one age. Let’s admit it!
So all the more, experience New Zealand like we never before as we live life once only! Travel to the wonder land where the Hobbiton Land lies.
Before we explore on the MUST things to do in New Zealand, you got to know this amazing country is divided into mainly North & South Island.
Personally, I feel North Island is like a large piece of golf courses where there’s lots of carpet grass and flat land. Rotorua is the main tourist spot.
Things to do @ North Island
#1: Sand-boarding
Our guide showing us how to do it the right way. . . Perhaps, pictures are not a true reflection of how fun it was, so there’s this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSJxxwfC1D4
#2: Four Wheel Drive along beach
Ninety Mile Beach is an almost never-ending paradise. You can sit on this coach which will drive along the both on land and in water! Its an amazing experience I swear. So much fun awaits you! This beach is officially a highway, but is really only suitable for 4WD vehicles and is safe to drive only at specific times of the tides.
#3: Black River Rafting & Caving Adventure
Heard of river rafting, but Black river rafting?! What’s that… Basically, in Waitomo region, there are places where one can sit on a rubber tube and raft inside the dark cave. Mysterious yet fun!
#4: Zip-Lining @ Rotorua Wildlife Experience
#5: Zorbing @ Rotorua
You will be in the plastic ball and as simple as rolling down the hill. 2 options to choose from: Wet or Dry
Wet option would be just adding water into it. The dry option looks more interesting with both your hands tied and legs wide spread. Off you go down the hill!
Things to do @ South Island
Main tourist attraction at South Island is Queenstown, often nickname as the Adventure Capital. It certainly lives up to its name. Most people prefer South Island as there are snow cap mountain alps with beautiful lakes and untouched flora and fauna at Milford South.
If you want to try all the activities, my recommendation is to purchase the packages to make it more worthwhile! Centers are located in the heart of Queenstown, purchase it when you arrive and do it the next day!
#6: River Rafting (Queenstown)
#7: Sky Diving (Wanaka Town)
Only an hour drive from Queesntown, you will arrive Wanaka Town. A laid back winter resort town. And its sky-diving time! Many places allows you to do sky-dive, but the best would be in Wanaka. Why? Because there are lakes and mountain backdrop, simply WOW.
#8: Bungy Jumping (Queenstown)
Yep, you are right! Situated just 20 minutes from the adventure capital of the world, its the birth place where commercial bungy was created in 1988 and what better to do it at the birth place, Kawaru Bridge. 43m high and yep, I did it too! Priceless Experience, come try it!
#9: Helicopter Ride
Note: Depends on weather. I have signed up for it, but due to cloudy weather, it was cancelled and my money was refunded. I will do it the next time, Queenstown!
#10: Jet Boating
High speed maneuver around the rocks, close shave, you are in for a water ride! Fear, Excitement, Speed.
Of course, there are other plenty more things to do in New Zealand. More to explore on my next trip… Beside, for a list of adventures, log on to : http://www.newzealand.com/au/adventure/
