Experience the thrill of freefall from up to 15,000feet above sea level and reach speeds of over 200km/hour. But why do it in the town of Wanaka? As a matter of fact, many people recognise Queenstown, New Zealand as the capital of adventure. However, Wanaka being known as the Little sister of Queenstown is located a mere 92 km away, around 1 hour 45 minutes drive away. Along the way, be immerse with the splendid scenery as you make your road trip across the Otago region.

Why Wanaka for Sky Diving?

#1) Safety :

Over 25 years, and with over 150,000 tandem skydives, enough said. Safety is the number one priority and I am glad to say they take it very seriously. At least, I know I am in good hands when it comes to engaging in what is considered as high risk activity.  After registering and having your weight taken, one will be usher into a well designed plane looking room and shown the safety video. After which, a staff will further explain the Do & Don’t in ensuring your upcoming sky dive safety is not compromise.

#2) Track record of Jump Master:

Needless to say, the experience of each jump master are very qualified. Speaking from the point of someone who did the jump, I was introduced to the jump master and we engage in small talk. Being the first time engaging in such activity, nervousness certainly got over me. The jump master assure me through the repetition of procedures of steps to do when in the air. To put it simply, the confident assurance from jump master himself goes a long way in calming myself and ensuring it will be an adventure of a lifetime.

#3) Reasonable Price:

Do you know? For the same activity that one either do in Queenstown or Wanaka, there is a difference in prices. In general, prices are usually around 10-20% cheaper in Wanaka than in Queenstown, of course it depends a lot of other factors like time of booking, any discount code being used, booking platform and many various factors such as the altitude you choose to jump from.

Prices can vary based on location, duration, and additional services like photography, on average, a tandem skydive in New Zealand can range from NZD $200 to NZD $500. Remember, the experience is priceless, and the memories will last a lifetime.

#4) Recording of Sky Diving:

The last thing you want to know is after the jump, the video done up by the jump master is not well focus, having blurry distorted footages. However, the one I had with Wanaka Sky Diving, although it uses Go-Pro 10 attached to the wrist of jump master, it was clearly recorded in both pictures and videos. The jump master are experienced right from the start of the recording session, engaging with you to create the video content thru asking you questions, well position of camera angles to take the aircraft, before the jump and after jump experience. During the jump itself, never forgetting to include footage of you enjoying while showcasing the scenic view of Wanaka town from above the clouds.

#5) Weather :

The South Island of New Zealand offer the most favourable conditions for skydiving. As we all know, safety is taken seriously and the slightest less favourable conditions would mean the activity will be simply call off with full refund given. In fact, I had wanted to do Sky Diving in Queenstown 10 years ago and it was called off consecutively 2 days in a row. Wanaka town generally has better weather than Queenstown due to less wind and less rain, offering one a higher chance of doing it. Needless to say, I finally did Sky Diving in Wanaka exactly how I planned for it on that very day attempt.

#6) Views:

No doubt, you might be wondering to yourself, likely will be closing your eyes or in no mood to enjoy the view. Trust me, the scary part is the freefall which it will last a few seconds depending how high is the jump. After which, sit back, relax and enjoy the greater views of the Southern Alps , soaring above Wanaka town. The views are known to be nicer with a mixture of grasslands (Green), clear blue sky (Blue) and snow capped mountains surrounding it (White).
