Here is a quick guide on how one can spend 3 Days/2 Nights discovering Mount Austin, located in the district of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Put it simply, you can embark on this trip on a Friday afternoon and come back to Singapore on Sunday afternoon.
Let’s start with an introduction of the Mount Austin area. This area has a mixture of residential properties ranging from terrace homes to semi-detached homes and coupled with shop-office lots. For us travellers, this area is also known for the many famous restaurants, cafes and you will be spoilt for choice with over 30 bubble tea shops. In fact, I feel this area has a Taiwanese and South Korean vibes, making one feel like you are walking along the streets of these countries. Every corner, every turn that I made, were either selling Taiwanese street food or Korean BBQ restaurants. Let’s check it out!
Getting There
Mount Austin is located a mere 18km away from Johor Immigration Center. The best and easiest way I would recommend is to simply hop onto a Grab car from City Square Shopping Mall. It is only 25 minutes ride (depending on traffic) and it costs around RM20 when I took the ride on a Friday afternoon.
Accommodation
There are not many international hotel standard to choose from if you plan to stay in Mount Austin area. Perhaps, one of the bigger and better hotel establishment from my research shows Austin Park Hotel is the best bet. It is strategically located close to cafes, entertainment outlets like Karaoke/ Singing outlets and Austin Heights Water & Adventure Park. Here is the view taken from my room, with food outlets literally a stone throw away.

Hi is mt austin fully doable by walking only? Or the distance between places can only be covered by car/taxi?
Hi Mimi,
Mount Austin is fully doable by walking within the area, with load of things to do as written in the blog.
However, I recently went back Mt Austin area and at night, it seems like not much activity as compare to the past. Hence, I could only say it is now recommend to stay elsewhere but can go Mt Austin in the day for those mentioned activities.
Cheers!
