Emirates Airline Review

Emirates (Airline code: EK) , one of the highly awarded airline in the world. Awarded:

• 2013 Condé Nast Middle East Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards – Emirates named ‘Best Airline – Business
• 2013 Condé Nast Middle East Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards – Emirates named ‘Best Airline – Leisure
• 2013 Mega Awards – Emirates wins Loyalty Innovation of the Year

And the list goes on and on! It’s simply crazy to list down as they won too much award and that naturally raise up my expectation.

I had sat Emirates for the first time back in 1999. And this was my second time sitting, so I was all excited and ready to fly with Emirates.

Previous flight experience with EK was enjoyable and I received my first child meal and soft toy of a camel on board. It sums up a wonderful flight. It is especially heart warming to know how much an airline values a child and often, in today society, child do play a huge influence in parents decision to fly with a particular carrier. It is often the pleasant experience that a kid will have and carry on to adult life, telling people how good the airline service standard is. This happens to me when I regarded EK as one of my top airline.

Ratings

Service: 6.5/10

Incredibly, it is not something to wow about as the cabin crews are not that attentive and lack of smile throughout flight. They are not service oriented too. Maybe I had high expectation?  When I had requested for wine, it took 2 times for me to ask for it. All I saw was the crew continue talking to another guest for a long time. She even told me to throw my own rubbish inside the airport terminal when the plane landed.

Ambience: 9/10

Very good lighting effects. Purple, green, red, nice use of the lights effect. A smoothing feeling with the lighted stars when all the cabin lights are dim.

Food: 7/10

Not that fantastic as compare to other airlines. Menu looks very nice, but when food is served, a little disappointed.

In flight entertainment: 9/10

VERY good. too many activities to do. Many movies, songs, games to select and entertain one. Indeed very extensive. Even feel is overwhelmed.

In flight Magazines: 7/10

Not very interesting articles. Lack of travel contents and pictures.

Cabin crew: 7/10 Cabin crew comes from all countries and continents. From Africa to South Americans, to European to Indians to Asian.

Crowned as World Best Airline. A little disappointed thou in flight entertainment is real good.

Please note above views are for based on personal opinion on my flight experience on Singapore- Melbourne – Singapore route.

Fro my point of view, one time service experience cannot accurately reflect the entire service standard of an airline. After all, service level is often inconsistent and intangible. However, service level have to be maintained should one need to remain competitive in this aviation industry.

Anyway, Emirates loyalty and on board entertainment is still one of the best.
