Hotel Review: Resorts World Awana

If you are heading to Genting Highlands in Malaysia but the high room rate turns you off at Genting Highlands, then why not consider this hotel: Resorts World Awana? Situated in the Gohtong Jaya part of Genting Highlands, which in another way also known as the base of Genting Highlands, this 4 star property can be the ultimate hotel getaway you are looking for.

I simply love this hotel due to the fact that it is a golfer paradise. Not that I am a pro golfer, but I am still picking up golf at this very moment, the greens surrounding this hotel attracts me the most. Resorts World Awana undergo intensive renovations to its rooms, giving it a refresh outlook. No longer is the old stale rooms that puts people off.

No doubt the façade might not look that fresh as compare to newer properties that recently opens at the top of Genting Highlands, this hotel is none the less value for money! Firstly, let’s talk about location. It is located just a mere 5 minutes drive from Genting Premium Outlets. Shoppers, fall in! You are in for a treat with the shopping heaven located so near to the hotel. If you intend to exercise while building your excitement to shop at the factory outlet, one can do so by simply hiking up. It is about 1.2kilometer away, but as it is uphill, one may require around 25 minutes. Treat it as a leisure walk!

If you do not want to walk, fret not! There are almost hourly shuttle buses that ferry guests from hotel to factory outlet and the main bus station. Do note that the seats are limited to around 15 guests and it works on first come first serve basis! Either that, one can easily book  “Grab”, a taxi hailing service. From the hotel to Factory Outlet, it costs around RM12* and if you want to go to the top of Genting Highland, it costs around RM25*   *Depends if there is any peak surcharges*

Beside location, the rooms are super big! With 33 square meters of room space for its lead in room category: Superior Deluxe, you are in for a treat! The room comes with 2 queen size beds and it still offers a large area for one to put your luggage. Every room comes with a balcony and sipping a hot coffee while enjoying the surrounding mountain range is truly a bliss!

Did I also mention the many hotel facilities it offers? Beside the 18 hole golf course, one can have easy access to restaurant, fitness center and outdoor pool on-site. I specially love the fitness corner which is well equipped. The swimming pool is equipped with heater in it, allowing one to enjoy a leisure swim despite the average temperature hovering around 20 Degree Celsius on average.

The lobby is fitted with a wide television screen with countless of bean bags for one to relax while enjoying mostly sports channels. It is a great way to spend time watching football matches with your friends sipping beer in the cool climate. One awesome thing about Resorts World Awana is that it is eco-friendly. Enjoy the freshness of plants with the fact that hydroponics is grown in the basement area, making it a great place to stay in!

I enjoyed my morning run around the 18 hole golf course while hearing birds chirping away and being greeted by the many monkeys in the area. Do not be alarm, as the monkeys are only found outside of the resort area, where there are lesser human traffic. The peace and tranquility in the area is priceless!

In short, getting close to nature, while still enjoying the cooler climate and enjoying the many facilities it offers, Resorts World Awana is the perfect place to have book yourself in! One can still enjoy Genting Highlands which is only a short 20 minutes ride away by cable car to the top. The cable car station is located at the Genting Premium Outlets (GPO).
