What to do in Taichung, Taiwan if you have only 4 hours

Taiwan have many major attractions and all seem to be the must see places. What’s next? Visiting Taichung (Central of Taiwan as the name suggested) is surely one of the city on your tour itinerary list.

Next question on most people mind is is it worth going to Sun Moon Lake. Honestly, my personal opinion is not worth travelling from TaiChung to Sun Moon lake and view the lake which is crowded by many tourists. It has lost its nature beauty and taking photos becomes a challenge. Why not indulge in nicer scenery that TaiChung offers.

As a start, one can easily take Taiwan High Speed Rail from Taoyuan to Taichung Station. How does one travel from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung?

1) International Flight usually arrive into Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

2) Head down to arrival hall (Clear immigration and take escalator down 1 level).

3) Arrive to Bus Counters selling all kinds of bus tickets to different destinations in Taiwan. Look out for the Green Bus from Taoyuan Airport to Taoyuan HSR Train Station. Bus #705. Purchase a ticket and off you go to Taoyuan HSR train station. (It takes around 20 mins to reach HSR station)

4) Purchase train ticket from Taoyuan to Taichung over the counter. If you need more information, there’s always tourist information counter located at station.

5) There you are, on your journey to Taichung. You can always buy a meal on board the train and before you know, you arrive into Taichung after 37 mins train ride.

In Taiwan, its common to rent a driver for a day tour around the city. And if you are in Taichung, you can look for this driver, Mr Wu who I was lucky to met this friendly guy.
