When it comes to travelling, often we have our luggage and for that it certainly includes bulkier items such as clothes, extra footwear and even your teddy bear at time for your night sleep. I had previously written a post on what type of luggage one should bring depending on your holiday, found here . I had written on one’s travel checklist before packing.
This post will be covering on what you need to carry in your backpack. This refers to the bag that you will bring along during overseas day trip out. This bag shouldn’t be so big in size while holding all the essentials for your perfect day trip out to explore the holiday destination.
The primary rule is not to over pack, but just bring the essentials will do.
Wear the outfit to complement your day activities. For instance, if you are heading out for hopping island tour, you do not need to wear your shoes and bring the slippers along. Leave the shoes lying in the hotel room, head out with your slippers is good enough. Being out in the sea, you simply need 1 essential item: Sunblock lotion! Leave the rest out. Bring a cap and that would solve it, leave out the umbrella!
Item #1: Bring extra money in your bag
Yes, money makes the world go round. No money, no talk in this world. With that, we bring our wallet out and is usually kept safely in our pocket (Not too much money!). However, remember bring a little extra and put some in “secret” compartment of your bag. The “secret” compartment meant some kind of small tiny space in your bag, preferably use a bag that has some form of small zips inside of the interior bag.
Item #2: Bring either a book or MP3 Music player
Read a book or listen to your favourite songs on the move to kill boredom usually experienced on long train/bus rides. After all, it’s time for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the travel journey!
Item #3: Bring medicine box, Mobile & Camera Power Battery charging kit
A medicine box with all the common pills such as Motion Sickness pills (if you suffered from it), cold, stomach flu pills, thermometer are essentials to bring along.
In today connected world, the use of mobile to search for places, taking pictures cannot be left out. Imagine when you had spend more than half of your day to get to the destination, you found out your camera had run out of battery! It ruins your trip even though the best thing on a trip is to soak in the atmosphere and capture the image in your mind.
Item #4: Wet/ Dry tissues & Plastic bags
Do not underestimate the usefulness of these tissues. It can be the key to making your trip a more pleasant one. You may need the wet tissue to wipe off dirt on your hand should there not be tap water readily available. Let’s face it: There were some countries that I had visited whereby the washroom do not provide toilet paper freely and you may need it especially if you do “Big Business”.
One of the thing I would like to take on board aircraft during the flight to my destination is: Air Sickness Bag.
This bag is rather useful to keep your small stuff perhaps: Hotel Keys, lotion, etc.
Item #5: That’s more or less about it!
Remember you are only out for a day excursion, leave your bulky items in your hotel room. Go and enjoy the world outside! Leave your bag light and spacious so that who knows, you may go on a shopping spree and you can put your new found souvenirs in your back pack!
