Thinking of going to exotic unique places? Look no further than Nepal, situated between China and India.
This is the only country with the most interesting flag that comes with the design not in rectangular shape.
And yes, just when you are saying “So what….?” This country offers spectacular view that city dwellers like us would not see it everyday. I call it the million-dollar view.
Friendly kids whom I met during my trekking trip as shown in below pic.
Beside the friendly people and scenery, below is the summary of activities that you cannot find at a reasonable price.
1) Trekking
Yes, you are right! No prizes to be given that you have chosen trekking as the number 1 most popular activity that visitors engage when in Nepal. And with so many trekking companies to choose from, you will have a headache if you have not make a booking prior to arriving Kathmandu (Nepal Capital). You will be spoil for choices and worse case been quoted a high price if you are unaware of the market rate. And do remember if you are going during Hiking season (between September – November), limited accommodations and airline seats would mean one may not do the trekking as planned.
Would strongly recommend to check out below trekking tour agency which I had used during my enjoyable trip to Nepal, offering professional and well taken care services. You can log on to their websites and make your preparations before the trip.
2) Jungle Safari
When comes to Safari, people often think of Africa. But closer to Asia, you can find it in Nepal. Chitwan National Park preserve some of the best wildlife species to be spotted in their natural environment. The Rhino is the commonly spotted animals in the area. Go on an exciting journey as you ride on elephant and vehicle trucks to track on these animals usually in the late evening.
3) Bungy Jumping, River Rafting, Kayaking, Tandem Swing
The LAST RESORT offers such tours.
Yes, BUNGY! Originated from New Zealand, one can find this extreme sport activity in Nepal too as well! And being one who have tried it at the birth place of commercial bungy back in Queenstown, New Zealand, I would say doing bungy jump in Nepal offers yet another dynamic experience! Its worth the experience and with the price being paid, it is more than half the price of what one get in New Zealand. Safety is not compromise.
Nepal jumping site is situated 160 meters above the raging Bhote Koshi river in the northern part of the country. In fact, it is close to the Tibet border. Book the tours online first at http://www.thelastresort.com.np/ before heading to Nepal. On the day of departure, proceed to the LAST RESORT sales office located in Thamel (popular backpackers area where tourist would stay) at 5.45am. The 3 hour journey from Kathmandu to the jumping site have already makes you pump up in adrenaline with the bus passing at high mountain edges at an incredible speed and challenging road conditions.
A package includes the jump, bus ride to the site and meals (buffet lunch). Below is the prices that was published during the trip in Year 2012.
The bungy site is actually a bridge hanging over the fierce water below. . . The bridge act as a link for the locals in the village to cross over to buy their daily needs and for children to attend school on the other side. During bungy jump activity, the bridge will be closed and only jumpers would be allowed on the bridge to take their position. The locals will have to wait at the side till all have jumped down.
River Raft is also crazy as well with the challenges and rapid it offers.
4) Parahawking @ Pokhara
This is rather cool and unique activity that one can do in Pokhara. The flying season is only from September to February with November and December being the best month. You can only find it in Spain and Nepal. Just in case , you are wondering what the hell is that!? See below pic.
During my trip, these people fly above us when we were trekking up and it seems so much fun! One of the must do activities as well, mark it down the next time you visit Pokhara region in Nepal.
Pokhara lies 200km west from Kathmandu and is within 25 minutes scenic flight. There are roughly 30 flights eveyday to and fro Kathmandu. Alternatively, you can take a bus ride to Pokhara as well and witness interesting daily life of the villagers along the way.
Lastly, enjoy Nepal !
